My True Insider’s Choice: 2013 Stigler Pinot Rosé
A sparkling wine that deserves grand moments. A commanding body, perfect balance, ripe acidity that seamlessly integrates into the whole, and a delicate smoky note – a fascinating mouthfeel that impresses with its complexity.
This outstanding cuvée of approximately 80% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Blanc, and a touch of Chardonnay was allowed to mature for 90 months on the lees – a duration that manifests in its exceptional depth and multi-layered character.
On the nose, a symphony of aromas unfolds: ripe quince and fresh rhubarb, elegantly underscored by delicate citrus nuances that hint at its vibrant freshness. On the palate, the Pinot Rosé is both lively and sophisticated: fresh, racy, fruit-driven, with a delicate yet precise interplay between fruit, acidity, and structure. The fine mousse exudes remarkable elegance, carrying intense aromas of brioche, toasted walnuts, and Amalfi lemon, further enriched by subtle hints of sourdough, adding an intriguing depth.
And the finish? Simply breathtaking. Long, expressive, and marked by lingering extravagance, it embodies the artistry of masterful sparkling winemaking with impressive craftsmanship. A sparkling wine that eschews mere spectacle, instead captivating with style, structure, and depth – a true “Grand Prickler” for life’s special occasions!
PS: A few remaining bottles of the 2013 vintage are still resting on the lees – the Stigler family is allowing time to shape its evolution, with the next release to be determined based on its maturity. At ProWein 2025, it was already announced that another edition of this exceptional vintage will follow. But for those who don’t want to wait, the 2017 Stigler Pinot Rosé is highly recommended – tasted at this year’s ProWein, it enchants with stunning freshness and is just as intense, distinctive, and radiant as its 2013 predecessor.
