Martin Waßmer – Pinot Blanc 2022

Martin Waßmer – Pinot Blanc 2022

When a Pinot Blanc from Baden starts whispering in Burgundian tones, you know Martin Waßmer is behind it.

In the glass, a delicate yellow with golden-green reflections – visually promising. On the nose, pronounced citrus aromas meet fine hazelnut, hints of freshly pressed grapefruit, and a touch of vanilla – a fragrant interplay of freshness and finesse.

On the palate, a Mediterranean-like minerality surprises – remarkable given the grapes’ origin in southern Baden’s limestone soils interspersed with loam and loess. The wine is pleasantly mouthfilling, then, with a slight delay, the lively, juicy acidity makes its entrance. Perfectly integrated, it frames the flavor profile, allowing juicy white fruit to shine while lending both structure and depth.

As the finish approaches, a fine creamy texture rounds off the experience, elevating this dry Pinot Blanc with the elegance and stature of a refined Burgundy.

Serving tip: Serve well chilled. A perfect match with shellfish, grilled fish, or, especially now, a refined companion to asparagus dishes in all their seasonal glory.
