A bold, elegant red from Tuscany’s Maremma
Ad Astra – “Through rough paths to the stars.” A wine that lives up to its name: born under the sun of the Maremma, matured in barrique – powerful, elegant, full of character.
The adventure begins on the nose: tobacco, forest floor, blackberries, and a hint of smoke – complex and inviting. On the palate, Ad Astra shows off a firm acid backbone and a mouthfilling texture. Fruit remains discreet at first, while Mediterranean herbs, juicy structure, and a silky mouthfeel add intrigue. Despite its power, it opens with an almost slender impression – then builds momentum, revealing volume and drive, all wrapped in an elegant restraint. Tannins are finely interwoven, the finish spicy with a subtle touch of pepper – long, lively, and full of charm.
The grapes – Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc – come from vines grown in the vineyards of Mongibello delle Mandorlaie in southern Maremma. The soil: sandstone, known as Macigno del Chianti, lends structure and dimension. Even in its youth, this wine benefits from aeration – only then does it reveal its full depth.
